Since the last Annual General Meeting that was held, back on March 3, 2019 (delayed by inclement weather from February 4th, 2019), OSFCI had gone through extraordinary times due to the COVID pandemic. My thanks to everyone who has helped us get through so far, and to those who are helping us move into the future.
We did miss out on some things. ConCom and Board meetings are not longer in person, but on Zoom. Three in-person conventions had to be cancelled: GameStorm in 2020 and 2021, and OryCon in 2020. And we had no Annual General Meeting in 2020.
We did have one in-person convention since the last AGM, OryCon 41 in November 2019, and an online convention (Or-e-Con) in November 2020. We’re hoping our next planned conventions, OryCon 42 (November 2021) and GameStorm 22 (March 2022), will happen as scheduled.
Convention committees continue to meet online, as does the Board of Directors.
Since the last AGM, we replaced the position of Storage Unit Manager with the position of Quartermaster, which brings our practice in line with some of the other local conventions. Keri Turner, who first took the position of Quartermaster, has done a lot of work inventorying and organizing the storage locker.
We also have a new IT Director, Isaac Carroll, and a website manager, Tatiana McIrvin.
Our contract with Kumoricon was renewed.
For the future:
We hope to expand the office of OSFCI Ombudsman, currently consisting only of Jacob Engstrom. Interested parties should send email to ombudsman and copy to president using the forms.
We will also continue to try to make OSFCI and its conventions more inclusive and welcoming. We have an Inclusivity Committee which meets online. Anyone interesting in participating or providing suggestions, please email to be put in touch with the committee.
D. Stephen Raymond, President, OSFCI
