Mission and Purpose
The mission of Oregon Science Fiction Conventions, Inc. (OSFCI) is a 501(c)(3) charitable non-profit organization dedicated to providing community resources and community-focused events in the Pacific Northwest focusing on creativity, education, gaming, science fiction, and literature.
OSFCI strives to be an inclusive organization for people of all ages and backgrounds and as such requires all board members, staff, and volunteers to maintain a code of conduct to participate in any aspect of the organization. These code of conduct policies maintain and reflect the values and ethical standards of the non-profit, in addition to complying with all applicable laws to our organization.
Core Organizational Values
Every individual representing or participating in an OSFCI space—whether on the Board, running an event, participating online, or showcasing a business—is expected to uphold these foundational pillars:
- Inclusivity & Safety: We are committed to maintaining spaces free from harassment, bullying, stalking, and threats to physical safety. This commitment includes preventing discrimination based on race, gender, sexual orientation, disability, religion, or any other protected characteristic.
- Respect & Collaboration: We treat attendees, venue staff, volunteers, and fellow community members with courtesy, patience, and professional dignity.
- Integrity & Trust: We protect confidential community data and respect personal privacy across all physical and digital platforms.
- Civic Responsibility: We abide by all local laws, venue safety guidelines, and event rules, prioritizing the collective well-being of our community above personal interest.
Code of Conduct Library
All participants are required to review and comply with the specific Code of Conduct policies that apply to their role. Each OSFCI policy outlines the role’s responsibilities and enforcement mechanisms relevant to the position.
- Board Directors: Subject to the OSFCI Board of Directors Code of Conduct regarding fiduciary duties and corporate transparency.
- Convention Committees & Volunteers: Subject to the OSFCI Event Committee, Staff, and Volunteer Code of Conduct regarding on-site duties and operational safety.
- Digital Participants: Subject to the OSFCI Online Platforms and Social Media Code of Conduct regarding forum and digital space moderation.
- Partners & Programmers: Subject to the OSFCI Exhibitor, Vendor, and Presenter Code of Conduct regarding commercial spaces, panels, and other programming.
All participants of OSFCI sponsored events shall also abide by the specific event’s posted Code of Conduct.
